This beautiful State Park along the banks of the Saint Louis River runs between Carlton and Duluth, MN with plenty of viewing points throughout. Trails are packed and marked for snowshoeing, or for the more adventurous off-trail areas of the park are open. Trails range from easy to difficult.

Hartley Park is filled with woods, trails, local animals, ponds and views with miles of multi-use Superior Hiking Trail paths looping through the park, perfect for your next snowshoe adventure.

Enjoy over 13 kilometers of beautiful and expertly groomed trails. Snowflake Nordic Center is a full-service cross-country skiing facility including a warming chalet with a waxing room and rentals.

This 15-kilometer trail is groomed for skate and classic skiing. Perfect for sunrise or sunset skiing, 4 kilometers are lighted. The adjoining 4-kilometer loop on the Lester Park Golf Course is great for beginners and is a local favorite.

Featuring 5 kilometers of double-tracked classic trails throughout beautifully wooded areas, enjoy a gentler inner loop or a hilly outer loop – making this the perfect ski spot for all experience levels.

Take in the magnificent view of Lake Superior and Duluth’s harbor in the distance as you fish at Brighton Beach - a local favorite destination in both summer and winter. 

 

Located 20 miles northwest of Duluth, Fish Lake Reservoir typically produces bluegill, black crappie, largemouth bass, northern pike, and bullhead. 

Enjoy a day out ice fishing on the Duluth-Superior Harbor with the beauty of the hillside beside you and the depths of Superior Bay below you.

Experience beautiful views of the river valley and a smooth, flowing single-track while riding the Lester Park trail. The trail overall is non-technical with only a handful of rocky and rooty sections, making it a great option for newer mountain bikers.

Adventure along Hartley’s traditional style mid-west single-track trails, featuring rolling hills and a few moderate climbs. Rated intermediate, many of the trails throughout Hartley have roots and rocks with require finding a good line – perfect for the adventure seeker.

The Mission Creek trails bring you through a heavy forest landscape with magnificent views of the St. Louis River Valley and Jay Cooke State Park. The beginner/intermediate ride offers a fast and flowing single-track with many bridges, berms, and rollers.

With hills ranging in variations and challenges, Chester Bowl provides a family-friendly environment located right in the middle of Duluth.

Explore the skyline ridge, areas around Spirit Mountain, and the trails behind the zoo on this snowmobile trail that leads to the William Munger State trail going south towards Carlton, MN. 

 

Trail Access 61st Avenue East and Lester River Road.

Adventure from Lester Park into the Hawk Ridge Valley while you explore the city forests to the start of the North Shore State Trail.  

 

Take in the views as this trail winds its way through the forests on the ridgeline overlooking Lake Superior. The trail is a natural surface trail, connecting Duluth to Grand Marais while providing some of the most beautify scenery in all of Minnesota.
