WHAT TO DO
Take on the Trails Like a Local

Set out on one of Duluth’s trails for a scenic hike or snowshoe adventure – depending on trail conditions! Offering almost 100 miles of breathtaking sights, Duluth trails are perfect for every nature lover, every age, and any level of difficulty. Here are a few of our local family favorite trails:
– Hartley Nature Center
– Chester Bowl
– Jay Cooke State Park
– Lester Park
– Ely’s Peak (a little more difficult!)

An unexpected adventure: drive out to the end of Park Point or Brighton Beach to hike along the snowy and/or icy beach – especially at sunrise or sunset. Bring some cocoa with you!

Ski Like a Local

From the expert to the leisurely skier, Duluth, MN provides cross country and downhill skiing options for all! The always high possibility of fresh fallen snow and trails groomed regularly, makes it easy to find your new favorite skiing spot.

For the cross country skier, we recommend trying Snowflake Nordic Ski, Lester Amity Chalet or the Piedmont Trailhead.

Downhill more your speed? Check out Chester Bowl Ski Hill (a local family favorite that is tucked into a quaint little neighborhood) or Spirit Mountain! Check out ski rental options if you don’t have your own.

Fat Tire Bike Like a Local

Check Dog Sledding off the Bucket List

Rovaniemi, Finland - March 3, 2017: Family with children riding husky dogs sledge in Rovaniemi, Lapland in winter Finnish forest

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure with Endurance Kennels LLC or Positive Energy Outdoors on one of their dog sled rides or tours– it is sure to put a smile on your kids’ faces!

Spend a Day Up the Shore

Road trip up the shore for a half or full day of sightseeing, snowy hikes, and some great pit stops to pick up goodies along the way. Make sure to pack your YakTrax for extra grip if the trails get slick and check out NorthShoreVisitor.com for a helpful winter hike resource. We also recommend searching for souvenirs and checking out the menus at fun stops including Moon Market, Russ Kendall’s Smokehouse, Castle Danger Brewing, and the Rustic Inn Cafe.

Weather not as Planned?

Sometimes the Duluth weather is too cold or too snowy to be outdoors, or maybe you just want to hang out inside for the day. Take in and enjoy some history at one of our local museums including the beautiful Glensheen Mansion, The Depot and North Shore Railroad Museum, Great Lakes Aquarium, or the Children’s Museum. Or relax and learn about the area’s craft beer scene at a local brewery or two. Other options include shopping in Canal Park or catching a movie at the theater right down the road.

And there is no better homebase for your travels to relax, refuel, and reset than at Pier B itself. Sitting on the water’s edge, just a brief walk from Duluth’s greatest attractions – we are truly close to everything without the congestion.

Find New Ways to “Chill”

You’ll discover the true meaning of “opposites attract” while submersed in our outdoor hot tub amidst the cool winter air. Or enjoy the wonder of fire and ice around one of our fire pits, seated with the perfect view of the harbor – don’t forget a complimentary s’more kit!

Located on-site, the menu at Silos Restaurant is also filled with locally inspired dishes and drinks sure to create warm memories. While on-site, make the most out of the amenities beyond our four walls– cruise around on a pedal cart or have the kids wear off some energy in our indoor pool while you sip on a perfectly crafted cocktail.

We invite you to wander and wonder in our backyard and find your new favorite getaway. Honestly, with views like these and our stay 3 nights for the price of 2 midweek promotion, you just can’t go wrong!
